IV — The Fly-In
There are places you drive to.
And places worth flying to.
The program
Río Mate Lodge Fly-In is a curated program for pilots who know the best destinations aren't on a map app. From Friday afternoon to Sunday, the Lodge is yours.
Park your aircraft on our private grass strip. Trade the cockpit for your favorite drink on the deck. Let the Uruguayan countryside do the rest.
This is not a stopover. It is a destination. An invitation to disconnect from the routine and reconnect with the freedom of the Uruguayan countryside. Uruguayan hospitality, premium dining, and the camaraderie of fellow aviators in a setting as exclusive as it is authentic.

02 — Uruguay from the cockpit
Use the Lodge as your base. The country is your airspace.
Three curated flying programs. One unforgettable day. Avgas is never a concern. Fuel stop 5 minutes from the strip.

The River Route
Low and slow along the Uruguay River. Wide water, dense forest, open campo. Unlike anything in the Buenos Aires circuit.

The Interior Cross-Country
Historic towns, working estancias, terrain that reminds you why you fly. The soul of Uruguay from 1,500 feet.

The Wine Country Loop
Fly into the Carmelo wine region, one of South America's best-kept secrets. Pick up bottles straight from the source. By evening, you're back at the lodge, wine in hand, watching the asado come to life.

The Golden Hour Session
Late afternoon light over the Uruguayan plains. We set the timing. You bring the eye. Avgas is never a concern — fuel stop 5 minutes from the strip.
03 — Getting here
From San Fernando to the river.
The routing is straightforward. The scenery is not. Total flight time from SADF: approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
SADF
San Fernando Airport
Buenos Aires' general aviation hub. Your starting point.
→
Río de la Plata Crossing
Urban skyline behind you. Open horizon ahead. The moment the city disappears beneath the wing is the moment the weekend begins.
SUCM
Carmelo Airport
Your port of entry into Uruguay. Standard customs and immigration procedures apply here.
→
Río Mate Private Strip
Thirty minutes over open countryside. No traffic. No tower. Just the strip appearing through the trees, exactly where it should be.
What our guests say
"An absolutely incredible trip! The dorado fishing was out of this world, and Río Mate Lodge was fantastic. The Uruguay Outfitters team made us feel like family. Can't wait to come back."
— John D. · Texas, USA
"Best wing shooting I've ever experienced — the doves were unbelievable, and the perdiz hunts were a true classic. The guides knew their stuff, and the food… oh, the food! Highly recommend."
