01 / Soriano · Uruguay · 33°S
No one will believe you.
Good.
A private sporting lodge on a hilltop overlooking Uruguay's Río Negro. Eight double suites. Golden dorado at dawn, high-volume wingshooting by afternoon, open fire and long tables after dark.
The difference between a good trip and an unforgettable one is the slow realization, somewhere between the first cast, the first flush of birds, and the last asado, that you've been welcomed into something that doesn't end when you pack.
Uruguay Outfitters runs the only true cast-and-blast sporting estancia in Uruguay. From a hilltop above the Río Negro, we offer Golden Dorado in a river system that holds structure and current, high-volume dove and perdiz across working cattle country, and an integrated sporting experience written into the land itself. Eight double suites. Programs built around the rhythms of the fishery, the flight patterns, and the light.

03 — What the experts say
“I've been fortunate to fish for Golden dorado across South America, and I can confidently say this program offers some of the most consistent fishing along with an exceptional diversity of fisheries and water types, all from a single lodge. It's a truly exceptional experience.”
— Jack Porter
South America Program Director · Yellowdog Fly Fishing Travel
“I fell in love with Uruguay about 10 seconds after stepping off the boat. Excellent Dorado fishing, casting poppers to Wolffish, and even dove hunting — and the food was exceptional. I'd be lying if I told you a few days was enough… I have to go back.”
— Anil Srivastava
Destination Manager · Fly Water Travel
“The trip was phenomenal! This was my first time fishing for Dorado and we caught plenty. It was the most consistent I have seen in any fishery. There are multiple sections to fish and explore each day so you are never fishing the same waters, and the guides know the sections of this diverse fishery extremely well. To top it off, I was able to get my hands on a trophy Dorado! Aside from the fishing, the guides and lodge staff are all amazing. Their knowledge and hospitality are great and you're always learning about their culture. Marcelo and Maxi spread a lot of love to the guests and each day I felt very welcomed! Excited to explore that area much more in the future!”
